CEDARBURG — Mel’s Charities has been awarded a $5,000 Legacy Grant by the Wispact Foundation to support the PIGments for a Cause program.
PIGments was created so artists with unique abilities can impact lives in the community through art. From Ross’ Crosses to unique works of art, the PIGments for a Cause program allows artists of all skill levels to showcase their creative talents.
Since 1999, Mel’s Charities, Inc. has been having fun and impacting countless lives throughout Ozaukee County, according to a press release from Mel’s Charities. Since the beginning, Mel’s has awarded over $1.9 million in grants with a strong emphasis on persons with disabilities, memorials and community impact.
The Wispact Foundation was established in 2021 and provides grants to support the mission of client-centered organizations assisting Wisconsin residents. The Wispact Foundation is a wholly owned subsidiary of Wispact, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of persons with disabilities through pooled and community special needs trusts (SNT), according to the press release. Wispact was created in 2003 and is now one of the largest of its kind in the United States, and currently serves more than 4,000 beneficiaries throughout Wisconsin.
PIGments for a Cause happens from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at The Student Union, W62N542 Washington Ave. in Cedarburg. The next time the program is meeting is Wednesday.
