At Mel’s Charities, our mission is having fun as we impact lives in Ozaukee County. Since 1999, we have awarded grants and other gifts to eligible individuals and organizations in our community.
Grant Recipients
- IDD Community: We prioritize projects that benefit individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, promoting inclusivity and support.
- Memorials and Scholarship Funds: We honor the legacy of loved ones by funding scholarships and memorials that benefit the community.
- Community Impact Projects: We support initiatives that create positive change and address critical needs in Ozaukee County.
Grant Application Requirements
Mel’s Charities accepts grant applications during three submission periods each year. These application windows help organize our review process while allowing flexibility to respond to community needs. Some grant requests may be reviewed and approved on a rolling basis based on the nature, size, or urgency of the request.

Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for funding, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Funding is limited to nonprofit organizations, businesses, families, and individuals serving or located within Ozaukee County.
- Requests must align with one or more of Mel’s Charities’ three focus areas.
- Grant recipients are required to provide an update on the use and impact of the funds within one year of receiving their grant. Failure to do so may affect future funding eligibility.
- Priority is given to applications that include a clear, detailed, and transparent budget outlining how grant funds will be used.
- Collaborative efforts between organizations are encouraged to maximize community impact and available resources.
