What We Raise Here Stays Here…and We’re Just Getting Started!
Mel’s Charities Sponsors Chris Herren Presentation – December 1
Chris Herren was an All-American basketball star, broke scoring records and realized his lifelong dream of playing in the NBA before losing his career and almost his family to the disease of addiction. Alcohol and drug-free since 2008, Chris has spoken to over one million students nationwide. He will visit Ozaukee County high schools December 1 and 2 to share his story with the goal of making a positive difference in the lives of others. He’ll also speak at a public presentation December 1 at the Grafton High School auditorium.
We are grateful Chris is available to speak at four local high schools, as well a free community event open to the public at the Grafton High School auditorium, 6:30-8:00PM, December 1. Community organizations dealing with substance use disorders and wellness will also be on hand. We expect to fill the 850-seat venue, so we encourage you to visit givebutter.com/MelsCharities-ChrisHerren to reserve seats.
We’d like to thank Bank Five Nine, Ozaukee County Department of Human Services, Debbie Kobiske, and the Tyler Buczek family for supporting Chris’s visit to Ozaukee County.

OUR STORY
Mel’s Charities’ mission is to provide “Great Times for Great Causes,” supporting non-profit organizations in Ozaukee County, with a strong emphasis on special needs, memorial scholarships, and human service organizations.
Our goal has always been to help others while having fun. In 2020 Mel’s Charities provided grants totaling over $206,000 to Ozaukee County recipients. What began as a $350 gift in 1999 has now grown to over $1.4 million in total grants.
One hundred percent of the net proceeds from all events are donated back to the community.

WHAT’S NEW
Mel’s Charities celebrates 23 years of Great Times for Great Causes
CEDARBURG — Mel’s Charities celebrated its 23 years of Great Times for Great Causes with its annual pig roast held Sunday, Sept. 12 at Cedars III in Cedarburg. By far one of Mel’s Charities’ larger fundraising events, Mel’s Pig Roast featured an afternoon of food, fun and prizes.
Held in a 6,000-square-foot tent on the Cedars III grounds, pig roast guests were not only treated to food and drinks but also football and baseball on several big screen TVs.
First photo: Guests checked out their raffle ticket numbers hoping to win one of Mel’s famous raffle bags.
Second photo: Mel’s Charities ambassadors (l-r) Ross Rintelmann, Robert and Donald Kolenko and Aaron Gresch along with Tom Stanton, draw tickets from a bucket picking winners for prizes such as 50-yard line Packers tickets, a 70 inch big screen TV and a beer kegerator.
Last photo: Tom ‘Mel’ Stanton addresses the crowd thanking them for their support of the charity.
